Six principles we actually argue from
These aren't a wall poster. When a product decision is contested internally, this is the list we settle it with.
Transparency by default
The payout formula and the platform fee are published on this site. If we change them, we'll announce it before it takes effect, never after.
Humans decide what gets listed
No automated approvals. Every book is read by a moderator against a public quality bar, and editorial judgment is a service to readers, not a gate on writers.
Authors are paid, not promoted
We won't sell placement, take a cut of promotion budgets, or offer paid boosts. Attention on Inkrafted can't be purchased at any price.
Human-written, non-negotiable
No AI-generated books, full stop. Every submission must be written by its credited human author — wholesale AI-generated text submitted as a novel is rejected outright, no exceptions. Human creativity and originality are the entire point of what we're building.
Your reading is your business
We measure reading in aggregate to pay authors. We won't sell reading data, build advertising profiles from it, or use it to train models without a separate, explicit opt-in.
Small, slow and independent
We'd rather grow a catalog readers trust than one that's merely large. Nothing here is optimized for a future acquisition.
In practice
What these actually commit us to
Principles are only real when they're specific enough to be checked later.
- We won't accept a publisher deal that requires guaranteed front-page placement, even if offered.
- We're not building reading streaks or other mechanics designed to create obligation rather than enjoyment.
- The payout model caps how much a single reader's activity can count toward the pool, by design, before real usage data exists to tune it.
- We're keeping the editorial review human rather than automating approvals to scale faster, even though it's slower.
