01What we collect

We collect the minimum needed to run a reading service and pay authors fairly.

• Account data: email address, display name, plan and billing status.
• Reading data: which books you open, normalized pages read, chapter progress, highlights and bookmarks.
• Device data: browser, operating system and approximate region, for troubleshooting and fraud checks.

02Why we measure reading

Author payouts are proportional to pages read, so we have to measure it. Authors only ever see aggregated figures for their own books — never who read them, and never an individual reading session.

03What we never do

We don't sell personal data. We don't build advertising profiles, run third-party ad trackers, or share your highlights and notes with anyone unless you publish them yourself.

04Legal bases

We process account and billing data to perform our contract with you, reading data under our legitimate interest in paying authors correctly and preventing fraud, and optional analytics only with your consent.

05Sharing and processors

We use a small number of processors under contract: a payment provider for billing, a cloud host for storage, and an email provider for account mail. They may not use your data for their own purposes.

06Retention

Account data is kept while your account is open and for 30 days after closure. Reading data used for payouts is aggregated after a limited period. Invoices are kept as long as tax law requires.

07Your controls

You'll be able to exercise any of these from account settings, or by emailing us.

• Export your account and reading history.
• Clear your reading history for a single book or your whole library.
• Delete your account, which anonymises your contribution to past payout calculations.
• Object to optional analytics without losing any feature.
